Conservation and Biophilia
Very exciting things are taking place at the Highland Wildlife Park, which is situated about 7 miles north of Newtonmore (continue driving through Kingussie on the B9152 for 4.5 miles and the entrance is on your left hand side).
There is to be a new main discovery hub, which will utilise innovative digital technology to immerse people in stories of Scotland’s wildlife of the past, present and future.
A new learning hub is also underway. This will help visitors to learn about wildlife conservation and outdoor learning.
Finally, the hilltop hub is having further development undertaken. It will have views of the Saving the Scottish Wildcat conservation breeding for release centre. It is hoped these projects might be completed by the summer of 2024.
We had an introduction to all of the above recently. And to finish, the unexpected pleasure of feeding the polar bears their lunchtime snack of red apples and carrots. They are fed c35kg of meat per day too. The photos show Victoria and her cub, Brodie.
